  • 1.  Deploying SIP hard phones

Hey gang - Looking for an easy way to deploy 9611SIP hard phones.  We have 360 phones that need to be deployed quickly.  We normally would flash the firmware then attach them to the DSL to update the Config Server ip address.
Is there a way to get the proper Config Server in the phone without attaching to the DSL?  We are trying to do it in the Settings File but it does not seem to be working.

For 9611's, you will need to program the "file server" address manually (either HTTPS or HTTP server), or somehow get the DHCP options to be sent to the phone on bootup (very unlikely for home users).  Because that value is stored in two places (non-volatile and volatile RAM), there really is no way to inject that value so it survives a reboot besides manually entering it.

One of the advantages of the J-100 series phones is that they can communicate with the Avaya Cloud for auto-configuration.  You can request a login for that service, and they will generate a 9 digit code for you.  You user will enter that 9 digit code when the phone boots (when asked if they want to do auto-provisioning), and it will pull down that setting as well as a version of firmware of your choosing.

Thanks Nick!  Not the answer I was hoping for but also not shocked.  Also great info on the J-series.

I'm sure Sam from UW will also jump on this thread.  I seem to remember his team making the 9611SIP the standard for remote workers (and have deployed a lot more remote workers on that model of phone than we have).  We have less than 100 9611SIP used for remote workers at the moment (the rest hardphones are either Vantage or J-series)
