  • 1.  where are 96x1 and 96x0 phones getting date/time from?

I know this is a basic question but I want to be sure I understand.

My environment has three sites. The main is in Boston. Remote sites in London and Menlo Park.

Boston has Communication Manager (7.1), System Manager (7.1) and Utility Server (7.1)

While updating the 46xxsettings.txt file for our phones I came across TIMEZONE, DATEFORMAT and TIMEFORMAT entries.

I don't think setting time zone in the 46xxsettings.txt file is necessary but I want to be sure before I deploy the settings file.

If these settings are no longer needed to set and format date/time, where are these settings being stored? On what server? CM?

If you could let me know or point me to the necessary documentation I would be much obliged.

    Thanks,
    Joe

You might be able to do it with the 46xxsettings file and IP phone groups but I would use CM. The location table can adjust the time at the remote sites. The command is change locations. Fill in the Timezone Offset column and reboot the phone if they are already up.
