Avaya Communicator softphone not working with TAPI. Is there something that needs to be configured for the softphone to work with TAPI?

Whilst IP Office supports TAPI, there has never been a Avaya TAPI softphone client. It was provided as an option for customers who wanted to use their own or a third-party TAPI applications.  All the current Avaya IP Office softphone clients use SIP or WebRTC for audio and Avaya's own proprietary APIs for additional signaling.

Also note that TAPI has not received any updates from Microsoft since Windows XP apart from the minimum to make it compatible with new versions of the Windows OS. Similarly, Avaya have not updated their IP Office TAPI drivers. So, for example, the TAPI WAV (audio) drivers are not supported on 64-bit platforms. Neither side has declared TAPI as being at end-of-support but it could be said to be on life-support.
