Hi 
I have extensive knowledge in the Cisco UC world. I have a simple job to add on J100 series phones but I am not sure on the procedure to perform this.
I created user on CM but the phone type is greyed out. Can anyone provide me with the steps needed?

So J100 phones ship with SIP firmware so two questions.
1) Do you have a System & Session Manager?
2) Has the system been configured to support SIP stations?

Minimum CM release is 6.3 to support J100 series phones.
If you do not have a System / Session Manager your and the system has not been configured to support SIP Stations then you will need to flash the phone firmware to H.323.

Regarding set type chooses a 9630 as J159 native support requires release 8.x.

We flash the J169s & J179s to support H.323.  I couldn't find any documentation on what firmware to use for the J159 phones.  Do you have a doc that you could share?

I found the following guide that has a good amount of detail for basically any type of SIP endpoint.

I will use this as my guide and see how it goes.

Dear Dwayne, please let us know if everything worked out for you.
You have SMGR so you should use it to administer your IP Phones (adding users, adding CM profile, SIP profile if SIP needed, otherwise flash to H.323 as it was stateted).
Then synchronization takes place.
