  • 1.  Infosec requirement for 3rd Party Monitoring of Avaya Systems

    Posted 03-03-2022 09:12 AM

This is really just a general question (and I am a curious person) - Are others in this community being forced by your Infosec to install 3rd Party apps (non Avaya DevConnect approved) onto the Avaya Servers to do active monitoring of the systems?

How have you all handled those requests? Were you forced to do so, or able to come to some sort of agreement?

We have had multiple high level meetings with Avaya, and there just seems to be a disconnect between the people in my enterprise making the request, and what Avaya can support/handle. In some of our lab machines we have seen that the 3rd Party App we use start to hog CPU Usage and cause alarms...

So I am just wondering how the environment is in others enterprises, and if you are having to monitor your Avaya systems using Third Party, and if so have you all experienced the issues with possible performance degradation?

InfoSec came to us with the same ask. We pushed back and said that installing anything not supported by Avaya placed critical hospital communications in jeopardy. They have not over-ruled us yet {fingers crossed}.

    Good luck!

    Hi,
We had similar demands from infosec teams coming to us for our collaboration platform (Avaya and Cisco).
Both platforms didn't supported any of 3rd party monitoring app and we got same replies from both of OEMs.
In the end we just configured our SIEM solution as a syslog servers in all of our servers and the infosec team got something at the end which they can analyse and trigger alerts.
