  • 1.  Use LEDs on button module to signal open/in-rooms

    Hello all,

We have an office with a front desk and multiple consult rooms. We want to press a button on the avaya phone in the consult room and have it toggle and LED on the front desk phone on and off to signal if the room is in use. Anyone have any ideas?

We were going to put an expansion module on 96x1 or J series phone at the front desk, which a corresponding button for each consult room. Seems reasonable enough, but would not want this to time out, only presses button on consult phone would change the light on the button module.

We have Aura 8.1 and use SIP and H323 and Digital sets.

    Thank you, Katy DeSantis

One idea I had is to use SAC buttons.  Front desk phone would have a SAC button for the station extensions in each of the consult rooms.  Pressing SAC in the consult room would also light the light on the front desk phone.  The downside is the phone in the consult room could no longer receive calls while SAC is enabled.   You could get around this by building an X-port non-DID station for each consult room and configure SAC buttons for those on both the consult room phone and the front desk button module. Since nobody would be calling them anyway, doesn't matter if their SAC is enabled.

Either way, the consult room stations OR x-port stations need a coverage path assigned for SAC to work.   Could just use your standard VM coverage path though.  Or if you want inbound calls to route to the front desk when the room is occupied, build a special coverage path.

Another approach would be to use team buttons and meet-me conferences.

Have the conference room phone dial into a meet-me conference dedicated to that room.  When the room is occupied, they press an autodial button to dial the assigned meet-me conference.  Program the vector to play a message instructing them to put the line on hold and to please take the call off hold and hang up when exiting the room.

Now, as long as the they have that line on hold, the team button on the front desk phone will remain lit.

Additional incoming calls may also be received.
