  • 1.  How to add J159 on Aura 7.1.3

    Hi
I have extensive knowledge in the Cisco UC world. I have a simple job to add on J100 series phones but I am not sure on the procedure to perform this.
I created user on CM but the phone type is greyed out. Can anyone provide me with the steps needed?

    Hi Dwayne,

Please see the snippet below from an Avaya PSN. I hope this helps.

Avaya Aura® Communication Manager 7.1 and below does not provide native support of the J129/J139/J169/J179 IP Phones when they are deployed with J100 SIP software. The J129 should be administered as a "9608SIP", the J139 as a "9608SIP", the J169 as a "9611SIP" or "9611SIPCC" and the J179 as a "9611SIP" or "9611SIPCC".
Avaya Aura® 8.0.1 provides native support of the J129/J169/J179 IP Phones. The J139 should be administered as J169.

So J100 phones ship with SIP firmware so two questions.
    1) Do you have a System & Session Manager?
    2) Has the system been configured to support SIP stations?

Minimum CM release is 6.3 to support J100 series phones.
If you do not have a System / Session Manager your and the system has not been configured to support SIP Stations then you will need to flash the phone firmware to H.323.

Regarding set type chooses a 9630 as J159 native support requires release 8.x.
