Hey Nick -
I know this thread is a few months old... we had some items come up that kept me from digging into the Customized Screen Saver idea for J179 using the WML Browser built into the phone. I am trying to pick this idea back up and wanted to ask you a few questions
You said you haven't been able to get the screen saver to work as expected on the J100 series phones, what did that entail for you all? Just loading static images onto the phone (Much like you can do on the H.323 phones) that bounce around the screen, or did you all pursue the thought to try and utilize the WML Browser, and have a image pushed to the phone and update every <defined time> you want?
We are really looking to advance the branding on these phones, and it would seem Avaya has quite a bit of power built into them with the integrated WML Browser, but they kind fall behind on explaining how to really utilize it. We have tried that Dev Connect link I posted above (It is a bit older, and covers 96xx phones but we assumed it would still apply), unfortunately our testing has not netted any results.
It really should be this difficult to provide this level of customization on the phone, IMO. Thinking that I will take this to one of the committees (which one tho) and have Avaya address this specific use case, because I would imagine there is A LOT of folks on here that would love to setup the level of Branding I am talking about, but allowing the phone to display multiple screensaver images, on a timed bases (Like rotate the image every 5 minutes or so).

James,
I don't think we've been able to get the screen saver to work as expected on the J100 series phones. We have, however, been able to do branding by exposing custom backgrounds. We've published 4 or so custom backgrounds for our users (and make one of our custom backgrounds the default), and set the screen time-out to be the same time the screen saver would have kicked in.
The backgrounds can be pushed out using the 46xxsettings.txt file. If you need some examples, let me know.

UPDATE -
As luck would have it (After I posted the first message), I did find something that seems to answer the question if this is a 96xx phone but does this ALSO apply to J179/189? Also I am still interested in talking to someone who has implemented this, what was involved and how easy is it to pull off?

Subject: J179 Screensaver Question
Hello -
So here at UNMC/Nebraska Med, we have started to plan for the future and road-map out of H.323 (where we can) and into the Avaya J179 SIP Phone (Also leaning on the new J189 for our call center agents). We are in the planning phases right now, and one question that has come up has me stumped.
BRANDING has become a big deal at the University, and the question that has been asked is "Can the new J Series phones which have color displays, that we know accepts multiple Screensaver files, be programmed to cycle through all the files it receives? Or is there a way to link the Screensaver to a web page that plays a internally produced video montage?"
I haven't seen/read where any of that is possible, but it's left me wondering if that is true then Why? So before I put in a Feature Request, I wanted to pick the brains of some really smart folks here at IAUG and see if any of that is doable (and if you are doing it now)?
Thank you ahead of time for any/all responses!
