  • 1.  PC-to-PC Communication - One-X Agent

    Posted 11-18-2020 02:30 PM
With folks being sent home to work, we have deployed a large number of One-X Agent clients. Some folks are now returning to the office. I have instructed them to continue using One-X Agent.

Some users are experiencing one-way audio when they attempt to call one of our remote sites using the client.

The Network team doesn't want to open up that traffic because it would negate "the pc to pc segmentation that helps stop worm propagation that we have worked for all these years."

They have asked if we can reduce the range of ports that One-X Agent uses. Apparently, it's a wide range.

Has anyone experienced something similar to this? If so, how was it combated?

    Thanks,
    Ted

    HI Ted,
There are 2 ways you can handle this situation, depending on your converged architecture.
    1. You can control the port range from the associated ip-network-region but be aware it you reduce the range it decreases the call capacities, I believe this calculation is available in the support site.
    2. If converged network is centralized architecture and satellite locations are getting served from DC.

Create two ip-network-region, lets say ip-network-reg 1 for home users (coming from vpn) and ip-network-reg 2 for office users & disable inter- region IP-IP direct Audio in them.
Create a third ip-network-reg 3 and assign DC media resources (G4xx gateways or AAMS) to it, enable connectivity of region 1 and 2 with 3. Now, the calls between home and office users will be shuffling disabled and longer need pc ot pc connectivity, in general this is not a standard design and not recommended as it needs more dsp resoruces which are costly. This also needs careful planning of dsp resources based on concurrent call volumes.

if office has a local media gateway then CM software login will prefer it over the other , in that case you need to enable IGC (Inter Gateway Connectivity). Let me know if you need more details on it.
