We are in the process of looking for a SIP carrier. We have narrow down our selection to the following:

    1. Level 3

    2. Verizon

    3 AT&T

Can anyone offer any input on the above three carriers as it relates to the SIP service, and support.

    Thanks

Of the three listed--I'd suggest Level3. Their experience with SIP is bound to be much deeper and costs likely lower as AT&T and Verizon have always looked at SIP as sapping their cash cow PSTN service.

I just found out that Cox Communications is offering SIP trunking in the San Diego area and am looking at that as we already have all our sites connected to their fiber MetroEthernet. Initial costs quoted at $737/mo for 50 simultaneous sessions, which includes free 17 mile radius local calling.

    Just my two cents.

just make sure if you are doing SIP long distance and maybe converting to SIP local too.  this might narrow your search for the right vendor.  not all can do it.  also, pay attention to features.  i think verizon is the only one that allows toll free blocking.

I have to second what Mark suggest Steve. In fact I am up at 0100 tomorrow morning to cut-over to COX as our new carrier.

Over the years I have used a lot of carriers with Verizon as the "last mile" carrier. I have nothing but horror stories to give you about them. With COX I am finally able to serve "divorce papers" to verizon. :-)

And for those of you who are still want PRI circuits, Cox can provide routers that do a SIP to PRI conversion.

I've recently moved over to SIP from, AT&T.  The all too well mantra is 'painfull, very painfull' with the project design and deployment.  Once on it, seems to be rock solid.

Having just finished installing AT&T SIP, I can tell you that AT&T is slower than a sloth. We were delayed for months in getting it rolled out. We are now bringing up Level 3 and they seem to be much more nimble. From what I've seen so far I'd recommend Level 3.

However, I will say that once AT&T finished the installation it seems pretty solid.
