I am looking for ways to monitor my SIP endpoints if they lose registration from SM... any tools out there?

Phones I am using do not support SNMP

    Peter,

I've looked through System Manager and cannot see a way to get a list of users that are unregistered.  I've also looked through the System Manager User Management Web Servcies.  Nothing that lets you get the status of a sip device.

You may want to see what Presence Server can provide.

That said, what looks like normal in your world?

If all you've got in your environment is deskphones within the 4-walls of the enterprise, then perhaps presence won't give you a bunch of false positives.  However, if you've got mobile user devices that are used part time, you're bound to see a lot of noise.

How will multiple SIP devices per user affect your requirement?  Or Dual registration of h.323 and SIP devices in CM6.3?

I am in need of a monitoring of some sip devices as well. The requirement is quite simple:

sip-extension 123456 and sip-extension 234567 need to be available. I was looking into SM-mibs but coudln't find any useful information.

A simple ping-check is not sufficient, because the devices that need to be checked are avaya b179 running firmware 2.4.0.23, which has a mean bug: if the unit is plugged into a network port, where no network configuration can be obtained, they are losing there sip-configuration after some time. if you plug it afterwards into the right port, it may come up, but won't register because it lacks the sip-registry-information... that is the reason why i need a monitoring on application layer...

    regards,

SIPp allows you to send an options packet to a SIP UA and monitor for a response.  There may be other utilities that provide this functionality, too.

Nagios has a check sip options plugin that may be able to do this, too.
