Hello, we have an emergency with our Avaya S8400 phone system.  I do not work on the phone system very much.  I needed to power down the system to swap the UPS battery backup.  I had read online that to power down the system I should find the processor card ( ours is a TN8400BP) and press the red button to shut down the system.  I pressed the red button, and the green LED for OK to Remove started flashing.  The light turned solid green later.  This didn't seem to power down the phone system.  About 10 minutes later I unplugged the system.  When I plugged the system in again, the TN8400BP card has a red LED on at the top, and in the middle of the card there is a red LED which is labeled Alarm.  Also in the middle of the card there is an orange LED lit which is labeled Card in Use.  Also in the middle there is a flashing green LED labeled OK to Remove.  I have tried unplugging the system and plugging it in again, but the red and orange lights on the TN8400BP card are still lit.  None of our phones are working and I cannot access the phone system through the web admin interface.  Our Avaya system is not covered by a maintenance contract.

I don't know what information is relevant.  Our system uses:

    G650 Gateway

    IA770 Integrated Intuity VM

    Definity Release R014x02.1.016.4

    CM5.2

    We have a CMS server.

Go to CM and display alarms.
Also go.to SMI (web page) and under maintenance you will find alarms

Thank you for the reply Heron Leal, Jr.  I have been working with an outside support source on this problem.  They helped me set up a laptop on IP address 192.11.13.5, and connected the laptop ethernet to the Services port on the front of the TN8400BP Media Server card.  We tried various addresses in a browser but were unable to bring up a management portal.  We determined the Media Server card is no longer functional and we will be finding a replacement for that hardware.

The TN8400BP and the TN8400AP: both hard drives are functionally
equivalent. So you can use the doc that I attached.
    Look at page 65, 66 and 75

Also your laptop should be as 192.11.13.5 mask 255.255.255.252 and gateway
192.11.13.6 try to access with putty on port 22

Thank you again Heron, When you first sent the attachment I hadn't even noticed the area below the message where you could attach files but I see it now.

We were able to purchase a replacement card pre-loaded with the identical version of Communication Manager.  I was hoping to try your suggestions before we installed the replacement but I was not able to do so.  We did not determine what was wrong with the old TN8400BP, however installing the replacement allowed us to get to the web admin portal.  I put the flash drive from the front of the old TN8400BP into the new one.  We had to use the web admin portal to restore our settings from a recent backup from that flash drive.  We were told to restore four backup files in this order:
    OS
    XLN
    Security
(Reboot Phone server through web admin portal)
    Audix

After restoring those backup files we had to reboot the phone server once more to get voicemail working.  Today the phone server appears to be back to normal operating conditions.

Correction: In the original post I mistyped the Definity Release, it should have been R015x.02.1.016.4.
