    Hello everyone,

I would like to ask you if there is a way, for a h.323 IP phone, to leave a conference call it did created, letting other members continue the conference call by themselves. IP phone registered on an Avaya s8720 using CM3.

Thank you in advance for any kind clue.

    Best regards,

    G.

With the default setup, if you create a on-demand conference (you conferenced others in), as long as there is 1 other person that is on your local PBX still on that call, it will remain pinned up. That includes people who joined with EC500. If that is not the case, you can use the meet-me conferencing ability of the PBX (you would setup a VDN/Vector to do a meet-me conference). Same limits apply (total of 6 callers), but anybody can drop out since they have to dial into the Vector.

Thank you Nick; yes, standard config here, but when the first party leaves the conference, it drops all the parties. No problem with meet me conf., but the scenario I need to reach is different; the agent creates a conference call using the phone's conference buttons, then should be able to leave it.

Is there still one person on the PBX with an analog, digital or IP phone in the conference call after the original person dropped?

Nope. Originating station is avaya, then more parties are involved using external numbers (geo or mobile), when avaya station leaves, only external numbers stay. This is the point of the question, I think; 'cause the avaya station is the telephonic entity who builds the conference, when it exits, des not leaves some "room" where external communication can continue to exist.

Ok. In that case, there isn't an easy fix. In order for that conference call to remain pinned up, one Avaya station still has to be involved. A work-around could be that you could place the call on hold (hold won't play hold music past the 2nd person added to the call), or transfer to another station on the switch.

The proper way to do this is to either involve a meet-me conference room, or a conference call server. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that if you have an AAC server, you can migrate an ad-hoc conference call to AAC.

Many thanks, Nick, I'll try the conference server way.
