  • 1.  1608 upgrade for IP Office

    Hi All,

     

    We have an IP Office v2 with release 8.1 (63). The problem is that the all phones (1608) are rebooting oftenly by themselves.

    We ask the supplier regarding the this and they told us 3 things:

    - PoE switch is not sufficient

    - IP address conflict on the phones

    - IP Phones need to be upgraded

     

    So the first is is out as we had check them all we told them the problem could be on the 3rd one which is the firmware. They told us to download the firware from https://support.avaya.com/downloads/download-details.action?contentId=C20138271152509990_2&productId=P0468&releaseId=1.3.x

     

    We downloaded the ZIP file and followed their instruction which is to extract the file to our Manger software folder and configure the IPO to have my laptop IP as TFTP server. I tried it and it seems not upgrading.

     

    I tried to search online on how to upgrade but it seems there is not much of a result.

     

    Is there anyone who can give me a step by step on upgrading the phones? People are jusst keep on complaining to me regarding this issue (phones rebooting).

    First share, are you using dhcp or static ip on those phones ?

    This same issue has happened at one of our client site & the reason was the dhcp scope was full, you must check with the DHCP server.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the response.

    We are using static IP on all phones. It is just 27 phones so just setup static IP's.

    To add  information, the 27 phones are distributed on 2 PoE switches. One has 15 and one has 12 phones. I do not know if this can help but I just add it anyway.

    Hi Jeff,

     

    Could you please share the POE swtiches model as per some blogs some Cisco switches have power problem in it while installing avaya 96XX series phones & i would like to suggest you to have a look at the power status in the switch for those rebooted phones.

    Hi Amit,

     

    The switch is a Huawei 5700LI-PWR-AC. I will check the PoE or power status and will come to you.

    Hi Amit,

     

    Apologize as I was on the other site. I had attached the POE status of the switches. I do not think the power is the problem.

    Is there any suggestion?

    HI Amit,

    We found out that the IP Office itself reboots causing all the phones to reboot. Have you encounter this kind of problem?

    When we check why it reboots is says "Abnormal Termination."
