  • 1.  Assigning a certain extension to a NR

    Posted 06-10-2020 06:19 PM
    Hello,

Does anyone know how to assign a certain extension to a certain network region regardless of the IP Address it gets.

We need to assign certain stations to a certain network region regardless of how or where they register.

These could be h.323 or SIP stations.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Hi Samy,

What is the purpose of having them in a specific Network Region? Can't you resolve your problem by setting the location on the phones?

    Hello Marc,

    Thanks for getting back.

We want these phones to be in a specific network region to use a specific AMS and a certain ip-codec as they will be recorded using port mirroring.

Let me know what you think please.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Samy,
The only means of assigning an IP phone to a specific network region is via the IP-Network-Region map.  It allows you to assign IP address ranges of any size to a specific network region.  Defining a range of a single address can be done using a 32-bit mask.  The table does not allow overlapping entries, so if you need to move a phone from the middle of a range, it will fragment the range into at least three ranges, those before the address, the address itself and those that come after the address you're trying to assign.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, I don't see how you would do this on the CM side. But maybe your Networking team will be able to create a voice VLAN that spans across your locations and you could set your VLAN ID in the phones. Just thinking out loud..
