  • 1.  SIP firewall problems: allow/limit/restrict

    Posted 09-15-2020 01:48 PM

Hi everyone! We're starting to roll out J-series SIP desk phones in larger numbers. We installed about 30 of them recently, but they all got stuck in Aquiring Service. Connection to our network and Session Manager was fine.

We opened a ticket with our BP, and were told it was known issue. The vendor did this: Changed SIP FW Rule for Session Managers. Changed Rate Limit to none on Register Flood from UA connection.

Has anyone else been through this? Are we creating a weak point in our security? Why can't we set a limit higher than our expected number of devices, rather than "no limit?"

    Thanks as always!

    Hi Chip,
Have you seen this PSN?  Interesting case where Avaya has walked back some of their assumptions:  https://downloads.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100178173

Interesting. An old PSN, but I see that Avaya is recommending setting the fields to none. Sounds like it still applies. I'm not going to sweat it. Thanks Tom!
