  • 1.  9600 labels for Busy-indicator programming

    Posted 10-29-2018 05:45 PM
I want to set label names for our busy-indicator buttons on an expansion module attached to 9608 set.
i am aware that this can be done locally from the phone sets but i want to achieve this remotely in bulks.
we have many expansion modules and it is not practical to change all the sets by going to each office and change it manually for every set.
    System is Aura CM 6

    thank you.

buttons have generic labels by default. They can also be customized by the user from the voice terminal.
These button-labels cannot be changed from the SAT. They can only be displayed.
Customized labels when displayed have a * next to the label if they have been customized from the voice terminal.

If you set up a backup and restore server such as Avaya's MV_IpTel the phones will automatically backup to the directory that you specify. That will create a text file for each phone that you can manipulate. Then, when the user completes a call or does any other action, the phone will look to sync up and pull from the text file. I haven't done this in a long time, but I remember it working perfectly.

You will have to setup the backup server, and then tell the phones in the 46xx.settings file to backup and restore. This way you will have a simple text file that you can manipulate easily. Honestly I can't remember if this worked for busy indicator buttons, but it might. Speed dials and contacts can be manipulated for sure.

    Morning

do you backup your phones to a HTTP site?

for the phones we look after in the 46xxsettings file on the utility server we set the HTTP server location for phone backup, each phone then on a regular basis backs up the configuration, call history logs and etc. as a txt file on the http sever, the file name is made up of the phone extension.

now you have this file you can edit it offline adding the lines you require, pump the files back onto the http server and from the phone select manual restore, and this if you've got the format correct will pull down the buttons you need.

I did this to pump a list of phone numbers to a few hundred phones at an office and it worked well.

We're running windows IIS servers and we've found that the phones don't consume the edited backup file unless we use the user account that is the owner of the backup file (the user id of the webserver process owns the backup files that are written using webdav).

    Anybody else run into this?

To clarify.... Unless we use the owner account to make the edits.

in the setting file the authentication for the phone backup is set up
this is the section from my file
    ## Backup/Restore Authentication
    ## Specifies whether authentication is used for backup/restore file download.
    ##      Call server IP address and telephone's registration can be used as credentials.
    ##    0: Call server IP address and telephone's registration password
    ##    are not included as credentials.
    ##    1: The call server IP address and the telephone's registration
    ##      password are included as the credentials in an Authorization request-header
    SET BRAUTH 0

I am using apache web server as it's hidden within the office network I didn't set any authentication on the http server. this has been in place for a few years now with no issues at all.
