  • 1.  Aura 8 Hard Attendant Console

    Hello All,

I have a dilemma on my hands for an upcoming Aura 8 upgrade. Our operations staff requires two hard attendant consoles for the reception area. The two current stations currently have older hard consoles, but the PCs in use already have two screens that are fully engaged for other tasks. As more than reception duties are involved with their positions. There is no real estate to put another computer, much less another screen in the work space.

I am wondering what you, my colleagues, suggest as a potential solution. I have seen some comments on using 96x1 phones with side cars, but wondered if anyone has used a J series with side cars?  The current hard console, think 302D style, has the keypad plus another 20 buttons for various uses. I have not determined the mapping of features yet, but wanted to get ideas on how to approach this first.

Any help is appreciated in advance.

    Kind Regards,
    Richard

How many BLFs are they looking for, for direct transfers?

We've been deploying the J179's on our campus and love them.  The side-button modules are in color, have actual lights and are really nice too (btw, even though they have only 24 buttons per side button module, they have three "pages" that you can scroll through).  You can have 5 of these SMBs connected at one time :)

The only thing to note is that J-series phones are SIP.  There is an H.323 firmware that exists, but don't use it.    With it being SIP, there are some considerations you will need to know.  1-touch transfers are different, as are attended transfers.  You will be using presence to monitor stations rather than busy-indicators.  Bridged appearances are also different as well.  None of those are bad, just something to be aware of.
