To update our global telephone directory and phone directory of our telephone operators (who are using the Dutch telephone console software "Connecsy") , I am still using the old Avaya Master Directory (which was part of the Avaya Softconsole software way back).
I have to run the software in Windows XP compatibility mode, otherwise it will not work.
I cannot install the software, I just copy the program folder to the other laptop when my laptop has to be swapped for some reason.
But it is a handy tool, it jumps to the correct record when I type, easy column sorting, easy record adding/editing/deleting.
From this tool I create a .txt file to feed the global telephone directory and a .csv file to feed the telephone console software (which imports this file every night)
Everything still works fine now btw.
I was just wondering which easy software I could use instead of Master Directory?
Just an easy solution, no LDAP (because we do not put phone numbers in our Active Directory), or client server solution.
Just a simple program which also jumps to the correct name or department when typing , custom fields. Pick list for departments (because now we have to enter the full department name every time when creating a new person's record.
Not sure it can be done with MS Access, can Access also jump to the correct record when typing?
