We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Voice Architect within Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (ARDx) Technology Solutions Group and is based in our Kansas City, Missouri office, reporting into the Director, Global Telecommunication Services. Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry-leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.

The Global Voice Architect is a key player in strategy and design development, as well as ensuring implementation and supportability of the Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (ARDx) voice infrastructure across all sites globally. You will serve in a global capacity to develop voice solutions that seamlessly integrate traditional and legacy technologies with emerging and cutting-edge capabilities and functionality using VoIP (Voice over IP), including consolidated Voice, Video and Data networks, On Premise and Hosted VoIP, IP PBX, SIP, IPT, SBC, Dynamic Codec’s, CTI, E-911.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in large scale, multi-functional projects, including M&A Integration and product development, with an open, creative and cost-efficient mindset focused on delivering business solutions.
  • Provide technical and business input for IT infrastructure projects related to voice and data networking, and related technologies. Understand and support global voice technology needs and directions.
  • Document and publish voice technology capabilities and functionality roadmaps.
  • Participate in ‘Go-Live’ support of any design deployment and transition into operational steady state.
  • Identify optimization and automation opportunities, develop rollout and upgrade plans.
  • Assess and revise existing voice standards and configurations.
  • Prepare, review, and approve Change Management requests.
  • Act as a technical advisor with businesses and work seamlessly with internal teams, supplier partners, end-users, and solution providers to ensure processes and tools are in place and/or are followed to meet business needs and reduce waste and inefficiencies.
  • Provide 24/7 On-Call support for assigned systems, including investigating and troubleshooting problems.
  • Partner with multiple suppliers to deliver end to end services under established SLAs.
  • Analyze business processes, and assess business needs to assist with the development and deployment of , and highly effective voice services and solutions. 
  • Provide compliance and support for regulation-controlled systems.
  • Ensure service levels are defined, effective, measured and reported.
  • Mentor different team members in areas of expertise.
  • Continuously evaluate service levels and ensure results are oriented to customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver cost control, planning and identification of cost savings and increased efficiencies and up time.
  • Drive services improvements via metrics, root cause analysis, problem management.
  • Documents standard operating procedures and trains Global Service Desk staff on MAC.
  • Maintains and updates standard operating procedure documentation and training. 
  • Maintains role-based security access levels for system logins for trained Support staff.
  • Transitions all Level 1 and Level 2 Telephony work and requests to Global Service Desk based on deadlines set by the Director of Global Telephony Services.
  • Assist Director, Global Telecommunication Services with budget planning, vendor quotes, call accounting, and department bill backs with the goal of identifying waste and inefficiencies, identifying and recommending standards and proactive measures to ensure maximization of all company resources.
  • Coordinate efforts and technical support for multiple suppliers.

 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other Information Technology field
    •8+ years’ IT Infrastructure Architecture experience securing, operating and supporting Voice and Networking services with a strong focus on IP networking technologies supporting voice, video and data networks
    •2+ years’ experience with outsourced and hosted 3rd party service providers
    •2+ years’ experience supporting international, global and multi-national networks with 100 or more countries.
    •Hands on experience and expertise with the following voice and networking technologies:: Cisco UccX, Skype for Business, Avaya, SBCs, SIP Trunks, Toll Bypass, IVRs, CTI

    • Familiar with business/location/regional legal regulations
    • Familiar with Agile (Scrum) project methodologies
