Hello - I have been installing ip phones and just finished up 2 days ago. Installation was over a 1 month period and total phones installed was about 165. This morning, I received reports of no dial-tone for those that noticed (about 20). The phones wer enot dead, I could not see errors on the voip servers or in the pbx switch. The dial tone came back after about 2 minutes and no issues since. Any ideas? We are using Avaya 8730 h323 Any feedback appreciated - Thank you - RC

Well, dial tone would be from a media resource on either a 2303/2602 board in a 650 or from a 700,350,450,430 gateway.
Your phones wouldn't even register if you hadn't had media resources administered properly.
Run display alarms, all kinds, active and cleared for the time in question. It's looking like an intermittent ip problem between the phones and the gateways.
Though I hAve seen defective 450s before that will never tell you or show an audio problem

Thank you for the reply - turns out the issue was the bandwidth was set too low in the assigned netork region.
