    S8300D/G430 - cant ping ip address 192.11.13.6

In my initial setup of a G430/S8300D, i tried to ping the default IP 192.11.13.6 but i would never get a response. I waited for over 5 mins and still got no response. We also realised the USB ports on the S8300D would not provide sufficient power to the DVD Rom although it was already charged. DVD would spin and then stop. Before we send back to avaya as a DOA is there anything we can do to troubleshoot or solve the ping issue?

I was able to SSH to the G430 and when i ran the show mm command, for slot V1 it read unsupported media module for description and the fault message read Insertion failure.....has anyone seen this one before?

    Thanks in advance

The new DVD player requires the secondary power supply that it comes with.. the USB is insufficient to run it alone..

Hi Avaya Guy, I have the same problem; can not ping 192.11.13.6 on S8300D service port.

If I insert an existing S8300C in the same GW, I can ping it. Do you have any hint for me ?

I have another kit of G430/S8300D, same problem.

    Thank you

    Richard..

Is this a brand new install??? if so you will need to run the CM iso from a bootable device (DVD or Thumb Drive) as there is not even a complete OS.. after this you should have no problem

    Hi Dave,

Yes it is a new install with CM 6. As you know CM6 run as a system template on System Platform. I burned the latest system platform sw and I prove that this DVD is bootable. The DVD is connected to S8300D-USB1. I can see that the DVD is loading when I power up the G430 but still, I can not ping or access SSH the service port on the S8300D.

    Any idea?

    Thx

I found the problem. The external DVD connected on the S8300D usb1 was running with a low charge battery. The DVD was running but probably not with enough power. I change it for another one and and now I can ping the service port and do the CM6 install.

    Thank you

charge your USB DVD drive by connecting it to your laptop USB port for around 30 minutes with switch off position....if u have DVD with external power source, connect the external power source..it should resolve the issue
